Mokai Patea Services has evolved from the development journey that whanau, Hapu & Iwi of Ngati Whitikaupeka, Ngati Tamakopiri, Ngai Te Ohuake and Ngati Hauiti have undertaken over the last 20 plus years. The collective moemoea of these iwi has been to create a fully mandated and governed organisation to deliver a quality, seamless and integrated service to its iwi members and the wider communities.

Mokai Patea Services Governance Board is made up of representatives from the four mandated Iwi Runanga within the Mokai Patea rohe, namely Te Runanga O Ngati Whitikaupeka, Te Runanga O Ngai Te Ohuake, Te Runanga O Ngati Tamakopiri and Te Runanga O Ngati Hauiti. Each runanga has two elected runanga delegates on to the Mokai Patea Service Governance Board which is made up of 8 trustees.
